Nurry Lee – music and memories

Nurry Lee

I hear from Nurry Lee (OW 2014) that she has graduated from the Royal College of Music where she was studying piano and is now living and teaching in Bath and London.

She has performed as piano soloist at many venues around the UK and in Europe, America, Asia and West Africa. She was the guest artist at the Bath Abbey, Bristol ensemble concert and played for the Countess of Wessex. She is also a member of Trio Rouge, a female Piano Trio based in London.

One of her many memorable experiences at Wells was the trip to Sierra Leone where she and her group visited the Aberdeen Women's Centre in Freetown. She recalls “we met many mothers whose age ranged from 12 upwards and some had given birth just that day. After being given a tour of the centre, we gave a concert to the patients and the 117 members of staff. The repertoire ranged from Wallace and Gromit to Gershwin's Summertime. Plenty of entertainment, photographs and laughter followed”. Back at Wells, Nurry is warmly remembered for her many concert performances with the symphony orchestra and other ensembles.

We wish her all the best for her developing teaching and concert career and hope to see her back at a reunion before too long.
